The first-ever West Coast Disney Vacation Club members-only cruise took place from May 15 through 20. Disney Vacation Club members set sail on a Disney Cruise Line voyage on the West Coast of the United States. The theme of this particular sailing was to celebrate the life and legacy of Walt Disney.

This West Coast Disney Vacation Club cruise had an exclusive entertainment lineup called the Walt Disney Signature Series. This collection of shows invites DVC members to walk in Walt’s footsteps through the original Happiest Place on Earth, Disneyland. Guests will get an inside look at the Disney family’s commitment to preserving Walt Disney’s story, join Walt on his global travels, and even step inside the kitchen of a chef who got his start at Disneyland when Walt was still alive.

For our part, the Walt Disney Broadcast Services team, led by video director Jay Hatcher, provided production support for the cruise which culminated in a live production concert for DeCapella.

Creative direction for the content that was created for the Member Cruise was provided by Ryan March, Editor of Disney Files Magazine and produced by Jay Hatcher and Charlie Hall.

In addition to our experience traveling from San Diego to Vancouver, our team made a pit stop to Pixar, to conduct an interview for an upcoming DVC offering. We also had a chance to visit with some old friends, Jim and Kathy Murphy.

Personally, this was a special trip for me because I was able to take my entire family along for the experience. Along with enjoying the Member Cruise itself, we were able to go a day early to enjoy San Diego and stay a day later in Vancouver.
